Driving test passed from 19th January 2013 can tow:

a) Small trailers weighing no more than 750kg

b) Trailers over 750kg as long as the combined weight of trailer and the towing vehicle is no more than 3500kg (maximum authorised mass)

MAM = limit on how much vehicle can weigh when fully loaded

Driving test passed after 1st January 1997 & before 18th January 2013 can tow:

a) a vehicle up to 3500kg MAM towing a trailer of 750kg MAM

b) A trailer over 750kg MAM as long as combined MAM of trailer & towing vehicle is no more than 3500kg

To tow anything heavier you will need to pass the car & trailer driving test

Driving test passed before 1st January 1997:

You are usually allowed to tow a trailer & vehicle combination up to 8.250kg MAM.

You can check your licence online.

Passing B+E test allows you to tow trailers up to 3500kg (trailer & load).

Vehicle & trailer with gross weight of 7000kg.

The test fee is not included in the above price and is paid when booking your B+E trailer towing test.  This fee is currently £115.
